As the movie
begins it feels more like a Robert Brown inspired film and not a self-help kind
of movie. Good or bad? Well, I’ll leave that up to you. As the opening credits
progress the Brown-esque feel merges with National Geographic style story
telling to make up some sort of secret society history lesson. All throughout the
beginning multiple professionals repeat the benefits of the secret and how it
will change your life. But what is ‘The
Secret’? The movie spends somewhere around ten minutes to finally answer
the question. Once ‘The Secret’ is finally revealed a nearly hour long
explanation proceeds. How ever, the explanation needs less than a minute. All
throughout the film cheesy animations, cheap acting, and absurdly excited and furtive
professionals give the entire film a parody feel. After watching the film three
times (due to falling asleep the previous two) I finally realized who this
movie was made for; those people who don’t have enough common sense to figure the
so-called ‘Secret’ out on their own. It is as simple as positive thinking leads
to more positive life. All in all, ‘The Secret’ feels way too much like a
college kid trying to “BS” their way through a term paper in order to fill a
page number requirement.
